In this episode 110, Velamma decides to volunteer at an NGO charity that raises money for orphans. There she meets Steve, a young American missionary away from home for the first time. Velamma takes Steve under her wing and develops a friendship with the inexperienced young man. So when Steve reveals that he has nowhere to spend Christmas in his new country, Velamma invites him into her house. Steve is welcomed into the Lakshmi family.
